Periklis Tzouganakis, a violinist and composer from Kastelli Kissamos, is one of the most significant figures in Cretan traditional music. From a young age, he was influenced by distinguished artists and teachers such as Michalis Kounelis, with whom he began violin lessons at the age of 11. His musical journey is marked by a deep love for tradition and a desire to promote it both in Crete and abroad. INTERNATIONAL PRESENCE AND PROMOTION OF CRETAN MUSIC Periklis Tzouganakis’s love for Cretan music has taken him on tours across Crete and abroad, with significant performances in New York, Chicago, and Canada. There, he has showcased the violin and traditional Cretan music, strengthening the connection of the Greek diaspora with their cultural roots. CONTEMPORARY WORK AND TOURISM INITIATIVES Even today, Periklis continues to perform music, passing his love for tradition to younger generations. As a founding of Balos Yachting with his family, he is supporting the local economy and connecting visitors with Cretan culture.
